LEADERSHIP
Roosevelt at USC is led by a general board comprised of all the policy center directors as well as the executive board which consists of the Executive Director, Director of Operations, and the Director of Advocacy. The executive board is selected on a yearly basis and the policy center directors are chosen by the executive board.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR | PRATIK THAKUR '23

Pratik Thakur is a senior studying Biological Sciences with minors in Health Policy and Economics. He is interested in understanding how forces such as the environment, education, finance, and sociology all impact our public health outcomes. Pratik conducts research with the USC Center for Health Financing, Policy, and Management and the Keck School of Medicine. On-campus, he is also involved with the Student Sustainability Committee (part of the Presidential Sustainability Working Group) as well as the Environmental Student Assembly. Outside USC, he is committed to supporting underserved communities through his volunteer work both in Los Angeles and his hometown of Kansas City. In his free time, Pratik follows basketball, soccer, and football, and is interested in the world of music production.

David Martinez is a junior majoring in Public Policy from Orange County, California. He is the Director of Operations for Roosevelt and has been a member since the fall of 2020. Policy-wise, David is interested in urban and transportation policies and the impact that those policies have on everything else that affects us, from personal convenience and freedom to public health. At USC, David also serves as a USG Elections Commissioner, and is a member of USC ITE and UP @ Price. In his hometown of Costa Mesa, he was appointed to the city’s Bikeway and Walkability Committee and the board of the Costa Mesa Alliance for Better Streets.

Tori Brookings is a junior from the Central Valley majoring in Public Policy with a minor in Applied Analytics—but she enjoys learning about anything. She has been a member of Roosevelt since fall 2020, when she researched how installing public bathrooms can improve sanitation accessibility for the people experiencing homelessness in her hometown of Bakersfield, California. Tori’s policy interests lie in community health planning, with a specific focus on ensuring health equity for vulnerable populations such as seniors. This year, she will train policy analysts how to navigate advocacy projects relating to their policy groups as Director of Advocacy. When she is not studying, Tori likes running, reading, listening to classic country music, and trying to make Birkenstocks match all her outfits.

Jordan Fields is a senior at USC and the Senior Policy Research Director at Roosevelt. Jordan joined Roosevelt in Fall 2020 as a policy analyst and wrote a policy about increasing voter access in Los Angeles County. He is interested in issues related to voter access and assists in writing various policies about the voting process in the state of California. In addition to Roosevelt, Jordan is the professionalism officer for Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. Outside of school, Jordan is an avid fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Dodgers and enjoys playing tennis in his free time.

Julian Guo is a junior double majoring in public policy and economics and a Policy Research Director at Roosevelt. Julian joined Roosevelt in Fall 2021 as a policy analyst and is interested in the economic aspects of policies that affect policy planning and implementation. Besides policy, he is also passionate about learning nonprofit management and human rights laws in international communities, hoping one day he can apply these skills to address real-world issues. Outside of school, Julian is always looking for opportunities to improve his tennis skills and enjoys hiking with friends.

Will Erens is a sophomore at USC majoring in Political Economy, and is a policy research director at Roosevelt. Will joined Roosevelt in Spring 2022 as a policy analyst and helped brainstorm and research policy ideas, including efforts to combat LA's urban heat island. He is originally from Chicago and is a huge sports fan, rooting nightly for his Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Yankees. He is the Vice President of USC"s Economics Review, as well as a member of its Spikeball Club, with whom you will often see him practicing on the Village Lawn. He is a committed environmentalist and volunteer with LA's Heal the Bay Organization, and is passionate about creating policy changes to improve the environment in LA and globally.
