ENVIRONMENT POLICY CENTER
About:
How can we mitigate the effects of climate change? How can we make economic growth sustainable? How can we unite diverse stakeholders around common-sense environmental policies? And since the adverse effects of environmental degradation are disproportionately felt by underserved communities, how can we advance sustainability and social justice? Analysts with the Environmental Policy Research Center address these questions and more. Pratik Thakur researched the link between oil wells in South Los Angeles and negative health outcomes in low-income communities. Similarly, Diana Salkic examined emission policy in Chicago in the context of environmental justice. Erica Lee and David Martinez investigated the efficacy of green transportation in Los Angeles and Costa Mesa, California respectively. And last but not least, Cam Levine looked into dis-incentivizing concentrated animal feeding operations in the Central Valley. Environmental policy is truly an exciting and relevant research area.
